What are graphics?

Your web site will also need graphics to make it interesting.

Graphics is a term used to describe a number of different things - photographs, logos, cartoons, etc. can all be classed as graphics - in fact it is generally anything that isn't a word!

Graphics on your site

As with the text on your site, you will need to give careful consideration to the use of graphics.

If you are an artist it is likely your visitor will want to see plenty of examples of your work - so you will no doubt want quite a number of pictures included.

If you are selling a product, I am sure your visitor will want to see what they are buying.

However, you do not want to completely fill the page with graphics as they can never tell a whole story - and your page might become difficult for your visitors to access.

Remember though - In many cases a picture really can "tell a thousand words".

It is important to remember though, that graphics should be of a good quality. Poor, fuzzy pictures can have the opposite effect and make it look like you don't care about quality.

Where you require graphics and can provide them to me in electronic format, whether they are logos, photos, etc. then these will be incorporated into your web site design free of charge.

Not all graphics can be imported in this way though. You may want to use a portion of a photograph or have some amendments done to a picture.

If you have graphics, whether manual or electronic and they require special treatment such as colour enhancing, significant re-sizing, animation, etc. there may be an extra charge but this will be dependant on the amount of extra work required.

Where you have a "hard copy" of graphics - e.g. a physical photograph, this will normally need to be scanned to create the file in a suitable way for inclusion on the web site. I can accommodate this, but there will be a small extra charge due to the extra work involved in scanning.

In some cases I can design a logo for you to use on your web site, or I can outsource to have one created. Whilst I am not a graphic designer, I have provided a few logos for customers requiring basic ones. There will be an extra charge for this service, the cost will depend on whether I design the logo, or whether it is outsourced.
