Niki Cumberland Rehabilitation Fund
Back in August, 2004, Niki Cumberland, a popular,
young, groom at Arley Moss Livery yard in Cheshire
was involved in a terrible car accident, leaving her
in a critical condition.
After several weeks of being in a coma, Niki
has been making a slow recovery and she is now able
to breathe on her own. She has, however, suffered
serious injuries to her brain.
These
injuries affect her in a wide variety of ways, including
her ability to speak, communicate, and move the right
hand side of her body. The
treatments that are important to Niki include daily
speech therapy and specialised intensive physiotherapy
for her back.
We are full of hope that these techniques
will assist Nicky in her rehabilitation and will mean
that she does not have to spend the rest of her life
confined to a wheelchair.
To try and raise money to help Niki get the
additional intensive therapies that the NHS cannot
provide, her friends at the livery yard decided to
throw their inhibitions away for a day and produce
a "Stable Girls" calendar.
Update
Nikki has made an excellent recovery and is back on her feet after a long and tough year.
We would like to thank all those who bought out calendars last year to help us rasie money to help our friend. |
